On Friday, July 2, 2021, Food For Friends served San Miguel School located in Back of the Yards, Chicago. We had the blessing of serving a meal to the families of the 8th grade graduates.
San Miguel families were served a delicious meal prepared by Lee n’ Eddies located in Glen Ellyn. Families ate steak or chicken fajitas with sides that included tortillas, beans, rice, and salsa and chips.
At the graduation ceremony, we had the opportunity to listen to their valedictorian, principal, and one of their teachers. The voted teacher shared a kind word to each student leaving the audience in tears.
I had an opportunity to talk to the librarian at the graduation and she shared their mission to help students and their families. She shared her deep gratitude for Food For Friends and our volunteers that always serve with a smile.
Thank you to our volunteers, donors, and Dan from Lee n’ Eddies for making this event memorable for the Class of 2021 and their families. You all make events like this possible.
