2025 San Miguel School Graduation

On Thursday, July 10, Food For Friends had the honor of providing the meal for the San Miguel Graduation celebration. The event was held in the school gymnasium, which had been beautifully decorated by the graduates' families ahead of time. Their efforts transformed the space into a festive, welcoming environment to mark this important milestone.

Our dedicated volunteers arrived early and full of energy, ready to serve and support the community. Despite lower attendance than anticipated, largely due to heightened concerns within the immigrant community, the evening was filled with warmth, celebration, and appreciation.

The graduates and their families expressed overwhelming gratitude for the meal and the presence of our volunteers. While the food filled stomachs, it was the connection, kindness, and support that truly made the evening special. Laughter echoed throughout the room, and countless smiles reflected the deep sense of joy and accomplishment.

We were especially thrilled to have the support of the Chicago Valkyries Rugby Team, newly crowned 2025 State Champions, who rolled up their sleeves to help serve over 200 meals. Their team spirit and enthusiasm added a unique touch to the evening, and we are so thankful for their partnership.

The San Miguel staff shared heartfelt thanks for our participation, and we in turn are truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful event. Providing a nourishing meal is only part of what we do; helping create spaces of joy, dignity, and celebration is what truly drives our mission.
