Donating turkeys during the holiday season holds profound importance as it embodies the spirit of compassion and solidarity within communities. Turkeys, symbolizing a traditional centerpiece of festive meals, become a tangible expression of care for those facing economic challenges. On Saturday, November 18, 2023, Food For Friends partnered with the Most Worshipful Celestial Grand Lodge NFP organization for their Thanksgiving Food Drive located at 616 S St Louis Ave, Chicago IL by donating 100 turkeys and blue bags.
Most Worshipful Celestial Grand Lodge NFP is an organization that is structured up of both men and women alike, from all walks of life with the same revelation in mind. That is to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, turn frowns into smiles. Their long-term goal is to enrich the youth, through teaching them to accept responsibilities for themselves; first by leading through illustration, motivation, and life skills and other activities and lessons. Most Worshipful Celestial Grand Lodge NFP is made up of men and women who use their own heart’s desire to do community service all over impoverished neighborhoods within the cities & wherever we are needed. They believe that all people should have a festive meal during the holiday season and even thereafter. Most Worshipful Celestial Grand Lodge NFP is determined to shed light on the darkest of situations. Their mission is to aid those who struggle in these hard economic times and are unable to provide the basics of life for themselves and their families.
During this event, we were able to distribute 100 turkeys and blue bags within the westside community. This organization even had the support from congressman Danny Davis. The Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway went beyond providing essential holiday meals; it created a lasting impact on the community. Families expressed their gratitude for the support, and the event served as a reminder that, even in challenging times, we can come together to uplift one another. The men and women of the Most Worship Celestial Grand Lodge was so grateful and overwhelmed with joy from the generous donation that Food For Friends was able to provide.
