Food For Friends, proudly served for the 4th year, Calmeca Academy on the Southwest side of Chicago. (Brighton Park area) Calmeca Academy mission is for all their students to become bilingual, bicultural and biliterate.
With support from Food For Friends as committed partners, we continue to create a strong sense of community, responsibility and solidarity for anyone in need at Thanksgiving and beyond. Our volunteers at Food For Friends all participate thru the school year to be partners with Calmeca students as the needs arise.
This year we had 28 volunteers that proudly packed the bags of food and distributed 150 turkeys to the student families of Calmeca. Each family presented their printed Turkey card to receive their food. This system worked to ensure all those that were in need of food for this holiday were guaranteed to receive.
We would like to extend our gratitude toward all the volunteers that made this event possible. All of your smiles and giving hearts fill us with joy.
