7.12.2023 New Faith Missionary Baptist Church Meal

On July 12, 2023, Food for Friends partnered with the Feed the Hungry Program at New Faith Missionary Baptist Church to sponsor and feed 100 people as well as provide them with dry foods.

New Faith Missionary Baptist Church was organized in January 1962 on the South Side of Chicago under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the leadership of the late Reverend W.F. Baskin. The Feed the Hungry Program was established by some church members who wanted to start an outreach ministry to feed the people within the Auburn Gresham community. This was done over 40 years ago. Due to the pandemic in the 2020, the kitchen closed and they were no longer able to feed the community. In order to continue this ministry, they decided to turn the program into a food pantry with the help of local businesses.

During this event we were able to feed over 100 people within the Auburn Gresham Community with a hot meal. Something that hasn’t been done in years! It was such a wonderful event and everyone was so grateful and appreciative. Being a member at this church all my life I saw how impactful this program was for those in need. I was very happy to be able to give back to a place that helped me become the woman I am today.

I am grateful for Food for Friends who continue to show the love and support for those who are less fortunate.
