On Sunday, July 4, 2021, Food For Friends partnered with the H.E.L.P.S Ministry in St. Charles to provide a cookout meal for the community of St. Charles and Elgin, Illinois.
There was an abundance of food for the guest to enjoy hamburgers, steaks, pork chops, chicken, ribs and hot dogs with all the trimmings. Pasta salad, baked beans, potato salad, and desserts. As guests started to load their plate with food, the smiles were contagious. Music was playing and the guests were enjoying each other's company. Everyone was beyond grateful for the food and the volunteers.
We are happy to report that about 100 guests were provided a delicious meal throughout the day. An additional 20 meals were packed and delivered to those families that could not attend the event.
Chinese lanterns were sent out just after dawn.
The night ended with a bang! Half an hour of fireworks were enjoyed by all.
The guests and the volunteers kept saying thank you for having the meal during these hectic times. They wanted to give thanks and needed to gather with others.
We are so grateful for the partnership and volunteers.
