Wednesday November 23 Thanksgiving Eve, Food For Friends was honored to be invited back to the Pacific Garden Mission. This serving event has been a Food For Friends tradition and roots of our organization serving men, women and children at the overnight shelter a warm Thanksgiving meal. Because of COVID-19 while we provided meals to go, we could not serve hands on in the building and its been three years so we were excited to be back. The Mission has remained open through the pandemic but had to limit the number of people allowed into the building.
We had the opportunity to bring 30 volunteers, all enthusiastic and ready to serve. We set up and decorated the room. We plated and distributed approximately 450 meals. The meals consist of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, buttery vegetables and a dinner roll. Coffee was also provided along with a gourmet cookie and special treat Culvers vanilla custard ice cream.
Special Thank you Dan Veles and his Lee and Eddies catering, Pacific Garden Mission and Chef Webb, and all the Food For Friends volunteers that carved out time to serve with us.
Happy Thanksgiving
