Thanks to all who donated for our Thanksgiving Blue Bag Food drive last week Food For Friends is a Chicago-based Christian Ministry that offers hands-on opportunities to provide food and help those in need.
This was our 8th year partnering with Food For Friends to help put together a Blue Bag containing a turkey and all the fixings for a family to have a nice Thanksgiving meal.
This year the Byram DG team were able to help 60 families through the help of Renaissance Social Services and Southwest Community Church Renaissance is an agency that provides housing subsidy and comprehensive case management services to families who have experienced chronic homelessness in Chicago.
Southwest Community Church helps the Shorewood and Plainfield communities with a variety of services.
A particular thanks to all our DG team of Customer Service rookies who paused their training to pack the 60 Blue Bags.
Their great teamwork helped speed up the process and get the bags delivered in time for distribution on the afternoon of Friday November 19th
The Program Manager for Renaissance shared the following: “Our clients were absolutely thrilled to receive the turkeys and accompanying sides. For some of our families, this is their first thanksgiving in years (or ever!) being able to cook a holiday meal and celebrate in a place they call home. We are so grateful for your generosity, and for the commitment y’all have to serving our clients.” Thank you to those who contributed and HAPPY THANKSGIVING
