On Saturday, October 16, 2021 Food For Friends provided a meal to the men at the Ewing Annex Hotel. The Ewing Annex Hotel is the last standing single-occupancy housing for men in transition in Chicago, IL.
The day was beautiful. The meal was set up by Dan Veles (caterer) and Leo (a resident of the Annex Hotel) led us in a prayer. The men were provided fried chicken, polish sausage and sauerkraut, mac and cheese, greens, rolls and butter, cookie and a bottle water. We had plenty of food and the men were very satisfied. Men were welcomed to have seconds.
In order to minimize the risk of the men and volunteers, everyone wore a mask.
The men all enjoyed the meal and continue to be grateful for Food For Friends volunteers. This monthly meal serving is such a treat to the men and they are all so appreciative that we have the resources to provide them with this monthly meal.
