On Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, Bay State partnered with Food For Friends to provide 25 Thanksgiving Blue Bags to the families from the Fellowship Housing Program, in Hoffman Estate, IL. Fellowship Housing is a transitional program for single moms. This gift continues to help them save for the future.
Bay State Milling Company was proud to once again partner with Food For Friends to pack bags full of full to provide a complete Thanksgiving meal to families and organizations who need it most in our area. Bay State Milling Company has been partnering with Food For Friends for over 10 years, with the number of local employee participants growing each year. For the 2021 event, employees at the Bolingbrook location of Bay State Milling (279 Beaudin Blvd) packed roughly 100 bags full of a whole frozen turkey, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, and corn muffin mix. Employees then took as many of the packed bags as they wanted in order to provide them to a family or organization in need that they are either connected with or are aware of.
Carmen Pabon, Traffic Analyst with Bay State Milling for over 13 years, brings her food bags to Humble Hearts (https://humbleheartsfoundation.org/). Humble Hearts was started 20 years ago by one woman, Carol Boyd, who wanted to serve the community on the northwest side of Chicago more fully. The attached PDF was received from Carolyn on behalf of Humble Hearts in response to the food that was provided this year. In addition to Humble Hearts the employees of Bay State Milling also served families in local shelters, hospitals, various veteran's affairs, churches, and individual families who may be struggling.
Bay State Milling Company was founded in 1899 on a strong core purpose and set of values that are still adhered to today. One of the many ways BSM likes to operate within that framework is to "protect, support and invest in the communities and environments in which we operate". By partnering with Food For Friends each November, we are able to serve our local communities and be a blessing to those in need.
